This ‘No for a reason’ card says:
"When I say no, it’s because I’ve considered the options and consequences.
Please respect my decision. If you don’t understand it, there may be factors you aren’t fully aware of." It has a stickman holding old fashioned hanging scales. One side labeled 'benefit' with a small green sack in. The other side labeled 'cost' - with a much larger purple sack, and words: increased symptoms, worsened health, inability to do other tasks.
With hidden disabilities, people can often try to ‘encourage’ us by refusing to take no for an answer – often, without realising it, they undermine important self management decisions. This card provides a way to help other people to understand that we we say no for a reason – it’s not a random fear-based decision, but an important, considered choice that will support our health management.
This download is a pdf with 3 A4 pages - the first is the instructions for making the card, the second is the plain version of the card, and the third is the striped version of the card. The cards should print in size A7 (74 * 105mm).

Please note: the download version has some slight layout differences to the standard version shown - such as not having rounded corners and including the text "not for resale. only for personal use by the purchaser" in the margin.
